Hampton Families,

Welcome to all our new Hampton families and welcome back to our Hampton families returning from winter break! We hope you had an amazing break and a great start to 2025! We end the second quarter on January 23 and our teacher’s will be busy working on your child’s first report card with noted progress during their teacher workday on Friday, January 24—a no school day for students. Your child’s report card will go home in February. If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher. While we do not have official conferences this quarter, you may contact your child’s teacher anytime throughout the year to schedule a conference regarding your child’s education. As we begin the second half of the year, we will continue to focus on providing an excellent education, for every student, every day at Hampton. We appreciate you and your support as a Hampton family!

Nurse Notes

Children's Dental Health Month

It is important to start developing good dental health habits in your children while they are young!

Here are a few hygiene practices to use daily:

  1. Help your child brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes.
  2. Floss your child’s teeth daily.
  3. Provide your child with mouthwash containing fluoride to use after brushing.
  4. Encourage your child to eat fruits and vegetables.

It’s important to replace your child’s toothbrush every 3-4 months, as frayed bristles decrease their effectiveness.

*Did you know: Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood. Of the over seventy-three million children born in the U.S. each year, over half will have cavities by the time they reach the second grade.

This year Hampton Primary School is proud to partner with Fort Bragg Dentac. Dental education and screenings will be provided during the school day on February 27th to all students. Your child will come home with a dental screening report provided by Dentac. Please contact the school nurse office if you have any questions or concerns.

Counselor's Corner

Happy February! February includes National School Counselor’s Week, and the counseling team at Hampton is hard at work supporting the social and emotional growth of our Helicopters. We loved celebrating our first round of PRIDE award recipients in January. This month we are looking for Helicopters that consistently show RESPECT. This will be a difficult task, because we have so many respectful students here at Hampton! Ms. Smith will be on the Hampton Primary News this month to will discuss the “recipe” for being a good friend. The “ingredients” we will focus on include sharing, kindness, caring, truth and fun. We will enjoy watching all the good friends at Hampton celebrate their friendships on Valentine’s Day and every day!

We are always here to support our learners and their families. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

Notes from the GYM

Exciting things are happening in our Physical Education classes. We are getting active with locomotor skills and various other activities to develop needed skills for a lifetime activity and fitness.

Healthy Family Habit for the Month of February:   With the holidays behind us at this point and the cold dreary weather starting to take its toll, your family may want to hibernate inside until spring arrives. But winter inactivity is meant for bears, and not humans! Find fun reasons to get outdoors. Winter sports, like skiing or ice skating, are fun for the whole family. Even if you bundle up for a simple daily walk around the neighborhood or play in the cold of your front yard, the fresh air and activity will do everyone some good.

Do not forget to dress for activity, especially your sneakers/tennis shoes. 😊

During this third quarter of school, your students Physical Education Class Day has CHANGED. Please pay attention to the information sent home from the neighborhood teacher for those changes.
