Art News ~ January 2025

The next couple months will be busy in the Art Room as we get ready for the return of the Art Walk! We have a few more months to create a couple more masterpieces, then each student will decide which piece of artwork they would like to have on display. Watch for more information coming soon!
Before the break, Kindergarten students finished mixed media pieces that incorporated collage and printmaking. The students started their collages by cutting out several different types of lines. Then they traced and cut out different shapes to add onto the collage. Then they finished it all up by printing (stamping) different lines, shapes and textures onto the collage. We talked about creating an interesting piece of artwork by really thinking about where to stamp the different elements.
The students in Ms. Delgado’s first grade class finished up their landscape collages right before Winter Break. They cut out trees from a paper they painted with watercolors and drew lines on the trees to make them interesting. Then they glued the trees onto a paper they had painted with different tints of a color. They used big trees in the foreground and smaller trees in the background to give the illusion that some were closer and other were farther away.
