Hampton Primary students embrace presidential physical fitness test
Kindergarten and first-grade students at Hampton Primary School in the Fort Bragg Schools Community took on the Presidential Physical Fitness Test this year, building endurance, strength and confidence through engaging physical activities.
Participants tackled three key components: the 20-meter beep test, which measures cardiovascular endurance as students run back and forth to timed audio cues; push-ups, testing upper body strength with as many repetitions as possible in one minute; and curl-ups, focusing on core muscle development with maximum repetitions in one minute.
The initiative introduced the youngest learners to the joys of physical activity while highlighting their capabilities, fostering school spirit and personal growth. Educators noted strong effort from all students, celebrating their determination and resilience.
Physical wellness activities like these support the whole child, complementing academic and civic development while helping prepare military-connected students to thrive as healthy, active citizens.
Proud Hampton Primary educators and families cheered on the young "Helicopters," reinforcing values of perseverance and community that align with DoWEA Americas priorities.
The Presidential Physical Fitness Test, revived nationally to promote youth health and readiness, continues a longstanding tradition of encouraging fitness among America’s schoolchildren.
